You Got Problems?
How about the poor fellow suffering from black, hairy tongue disease?
This appears to be a very unattractive mess – no matter how much money you may have or which flavor religion suits your taste.
Mmmm, yummy! How about a nice ice cream cone… with black hair on top!

Wisconsin’s Kentucky Fried Theater
The Wisconsin Alumni magazine On Wisconsin has published an outstandingly detailed article tracking the formative days of the comedy group who later went on to produce Airplane!, Naked Gun and many other movie hits. I arrived in Madison after the Kentucky Fried Theater had ended its run and moved to Hollywood, but I had seen Kentucky Fried Movie, which back in the mid 70’s was a counter culture hit along with The Groove Tube. These anti-establishment films were predecessors to Saturday Night Live and irreverent comedy trends more common today. If you are a fan of the work of the Zucker Brothers and Jim Abrahams, or are an aspiring writer/fimmaker, you will enjoy this interesting read by Rich Markey.

Beam Us Up, Scottie!
Scottie arrives on Tubular TV with his own brand of hyperactive analysis on Show #3. Actually he reminds me a whole lot more of William Shatner; got to get him some work on a fan-flick as the re-incarnation of Captain Kirk.
Anyway… in this program we unveil our high tech, multi-guest character-generator, “Stickhead,†who appears as President Bush, Barack Obama and a surprise guest who screams about popcorn. Scott also gets to vent about cell phone usage and how to take freedom of speech and media back into the hands of the people. We look forward to lots more from the multi-talented Scott-O on Tubular TV.

“Stupid Tea” and Other Delights
“Stupid Tea” Originally uploaded by brappy!.
Tony Hicks writes And Another Thing a very funny column in the Contra Costa Times. His recent article, “Humor not lost in translation” about preparations for the 2008 Olympics in Bejing points out a number of humorous errors in translation from Chinese to English, such as a park celebrating diversity named, “Racist Park.”
Hicks goes on to explore the phenomenon known as “Chinglish”and provides a few helpful links. The link to Flickr’s Chinglish section devoted to photos of awkwardly worded Chinese signs and labels is very good.

Waking Up In Suburbia
Do you need a suburban morning wake up call? Go to this web site and listen to these edgy, nasty power pop songs by Jesus H Christ and the Four Hornsmen of the Apocalypse. It will restore your attitude where The B-52’s and R.E.M. left off awhile ago. The girl singer Risa Mickenberg sings naughty things that make me smile. These characters have surpassed They Might Be Giants as a well co-ordinated nut job band with horns in my musicologic mindscape.
